Modern-Day Analysis


Obama plans to limit the use of nukes and prevention of making new ones. He thinks that if he promises other countries no more development of nukes then it will stop the fear of nuclear attacks and bring about some peace.

Red Scare

was a fear of communist by the people that they would take ownership of factories, railroads and other businesses. Adding to the scare was bombs being delivered to business leaders.

H-Bomb

is a hydrgoen bomb force from nuclear ractions from fission and/or fusion. It was made in a secret city called installation in central Volga region of the U.S.S.R. It was tested on august 12, 1953.

Sputnik

the first small artificial satellite launched by the Soviet Union on October 4,1957. It made the U.S think of what the soviet union was capable of. Made them jealous and anxious to make one.

Warsaw Treaty Organization

was the Soviet Union alliance with the eastern european nations. Both this and the (NATO)really gave birth to the cold war.

NATO

was the alliance between the western european nations and United States. It stood for north atlantic treaty organization and was formed in 1949.

Cold'War

The cold war was the rivalry between U.S and U.S.S.R. It came about after WWII. It involed the United States, Soviet Union (USSR) and its satellite nations.Nobody knows when it really started. Some say it started after WW1 others say it started after WW2. Harry S. Truman (33rd president at the time) came up with the Truman Doctrine which was meant to support containment then the soviet unions expansion of communnism.

Joseph Stalin,first General of the communist party then became the leader of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) which was a constitutionally socialist state that existed in Eurasia from 1922 to 1991.
